Textbook
Analysis
Context:
During Block 436 in Social Studies with
Michael Jacobson, I was given the opportunity to compare two textbooks.
This was an experience that will definitely help me when I become a teacher
and allow me to see which textbook will be more beneficial to my classroom.
Impact:
In completing a comparative textbook analysis
on two social studies texts, I learned to evaluate resources that may be
used in my classroom. By evaluating textbooks, I was able to better
understand the value of structure, organization, and content of them so
I could make an educated decision on which ones to use. The textbook
analysis allowed me to distinguish between resources that I would and/or
would not like to use in my classroom.
Alignment:
This project allowed me to learn how to
locate the many different resources that are available and out there for
me as a teacher to access. As a teacher we have to think of the effectiveness
of each of the resources and conclude on the style that best fits us as
an individual teacher (Technology Competency II
C).
INTASC:
It is important for the instructor to think
about each student’s in our class and consider the changes and modifications
needed for each to achieve the goals and objectives set by you as the teacher
and the state curriculum as well. (INTASC

The teacher will evaluate and modify their
lessons based on experience and ideas that they come across. It is
important while teaching to be flexible with ideas that will help them
grow professionally. While evaluating others work in textbooks, teachers
are able to notice what they like and what they can add to make their lessons
more effective, interesting, and enjoyable. (INTASC
