NC ETSI Advanced Competencies

References

The technology product I will be discussing is a Power Point presentation dealing specifically with the subject of literacy.  This product was created during my course work in a Literacy, Technology, and Instruction class at Appalachian State University.  In my Power Point presentation, I addressed the subject of literacy and its many definitions.  I believe that the product meets competencies11.1 and 11.2 by using technology in the subject of literacy for learning and communication.  The Power Point presentation also was a use of media and technology to present the definitions of literacy so that they were comprehensible to others.
This product will help my students follow along with the verbal information being given on literacy during the presentation.  It will also reinforce what I have just been teaching, especially for the visual learner in need of a visual aspect for the lesson.  This application can be used in a fifth through eight grade classroom when discussing the definition of literacy or its importance in our society.   It will also be used in parent-teacher conferences and PTO gatherings to inform parents of the aspects and importance of literacy as it pertains to their children.  A power point presentation is an appropriate form of technology for such a presentation on student learning to a large group of adults, and therefore meets competency 12.3 as well.
