Artifact: ESL
Resource Page- is a listing of Internet sites which could be used by
teachers who have ESL students in their classrooms.
Context: I created this page simply as a resource for myself during my senior year. I was fortunate to work with an ESL student during my internship at Beech Mountain Elementary School. This page could be used by teachers, parents and community members. Impact: While doing my internship our class got a new student who was from Florida. She was bilingual, Spanish being her first language. I created this page before I met her, just in case it was necessary to use. I know as a teacher in a public school setting I will have the opportunity to work with other ESL students. I am able to find resources from the Internet, and use them to benefit my students. Alignment: Technology is a very useful resource for teachers. There are many Web sites that are set up to help students with ESL. Teachers should use technology to support the needs of children for whom English is a second language. (Tech 13.3) Teachers are constantly looking at the curriculum goals. The teacher also needs to be more knowledgeable about the actual subject matter and community. These Web sites are helpful so that the teacher can adapt lessons to fit the needs of ESL students.
