Artifact: Inquiry
Project- this is an overview of Autism, and ways teachers and parents
can deal with children with special needs.
Context: This handout was created for my Curriculum and Instruction course during my Block. My group researched emotional behavioral disorders. I concentrated on Autism; its effects, symptoms, behaviors, and teaching strategies. I created a handout, which provides Internet sites, which are filled with information dealing with Autism in children. The document was created on Microsoft Word. The Web sites were founded using the World Wide Web. Impact: As a teacher I will have children with special needs in my class. It will be my responsibility to find teaching strategies to help these children. I chose Autism for my focus because I believe my peers and I needed more information about it. I learned many things that will be helpful in a classroom setting. Alignment: Children diagnosed
with autism learn very differently that other students. For example,
an autistic child would not feel comfortable working in large groups.
This resource page gives teachers more insight to dealing with a child
with autism. Teachers can use this technology to help them develop
effective lessons for special needs children. (Tech.
13.1) Another way to use this resource page is to have other
students research these Internet sites. Students will be more familiar
with their classmates with special needs. They will be able to relate
to their classmates better after learning about their differences. (Tech
