Artifact: Social
Studies Lesson Plan- My lesson is
designated for a fifth grade class. It meets many of the Social Studies
and Computer Curriculum goals.
Context: I created this lesson plan as a part of my Social Studies for Elementary School, CI 3100 course. I completed this course during my senior year at ASU. I created this document using Microsoft Word. I incorporated movie clips to show during the lesson. Impact: This lesson is formatted so that teachers can incorporate different mediums of technology into the class. Teachers easily grab students’ attention by showing film clips. The students also are able to use the computer as a resource. Alignment: This lesson is set
up so that students can get a better understanding of the Salem Witch Trials.
It reaches out to visual learners by showing movie clips. Televisions
are a good tool to use in the classroom. (Tech
10.2) I chose specific clips from the movie, which depict courtroom
scenes. (Tech 14.3) I used the Internet
as a tool to find my lesson plan. I adapted the lesson from an Internet
source. I was sure to sight where I got my source. I would
take the time to explain the importance of giving credit to the original
creator to my students. (Tech 12.6)
Each student will take part in the reenactment of the trial. Some
children will have larger, more vocal roles. As the teacher, I will
allow the more socially developed students to have the larger speaking
parts. The quieter students will be given the chance to grow by taking
some of the less vocal parts. I will try to give all students equal
rights to perform; however, I will be sensitive to the emotions of my students.
