Rationale for Artifact: Sign In Sheet for Computer Lab

Competency 14.2: Ensuring equal access to media and technology resources for all students.

Context

For this artifact, I opened up Microsoft Word, went to the Table menu and pulled down "new table." I then picked the number of columns and rows and gave the columns titles. After I labeled each one, I highlighted by row and moved them to equal the space between each.

Impact

As a teacher, I will be taking my students to the computer lab. It is important for the computer teacher and myself to know which students  and when the students are using the lab. I will be there with my students, so I will know who is where, but it is important for legal purposes, to keeping better track of where students are and at what time. Along with this is damage control. If a student damages a computer or something around it, we, the administration, are able to track who sat where and when.

Alignment

The Sign Up Sheet aligns with Technology Competency 14.2.  It ensures equal access to media and technology resources for all students. As a future teacher in the state, I plan on providing a sign up sheet in my classroom so I can monitor the usage of the computers.  This is also a great way to keep up with students in the lab. The computer teacher and myself must maintain the sign up sheet and monitor student Log of Use. We could publish a checklist of resources and arrange the centers for everyone to use.

The Sign Up Sheet also aligns with INTASC principle 7. Again here, you are learning to plan an organizational tactic that will help when I need monitoring in the classroom, and there are items that should not be taken lightly.
