Software Evaluation

Context
This software evaluation was done in a Curriculum and Instruction class during my block at A.S.U. It was completed with another member of my class. We both reviewed the same piece of software and were then required to rate the software on a scale of 1-10, determine what grade or grades the software would be appropriate for and give a description of what the software contained. We were also required to state what we felt were the software’s strengths and weaknesses and find previous reviews of the software.

Impact
I will use this software evaluation in the future to determine whether or not I will use that particular piece of software. I will also use it to know what criteria top judge other software that I may want to evaluate to see if I would want to use it in my class.

Alignment
This project has helped me learn to access materials for planning that are available through telecommunications( Tech Competency 10.3). Since this software was specific to math, (Tech. Competency 11.3) area I would be able to use the technology as the medium for learning (Tech Competency 11.1).  This software evaluation would also allow me to see if by using technology I would be able to address the differences in children’s learning and performance, (Tech Competency 13.1)  By using   this software as a template to judge other possible things I may want to use in the classroom I will be able to use that technology to present certain subject matters so that my students can understand them (Tech. Competency 11.2) By using software in my classroom I will be offering my students a variety of strategies the develop problem solving, critical thinking and performance skills (INTASC #4)
This project also involves assessing something and determining if material is developmentally appropriate for a specific grade level (INTASC #8)
