Investigating Math Strands Project

Context
This was a project completed during my math methods class in my block. We had to investigate each of the different math strands and develop lesson plans to go along with each. The project began in groups of four, then went to pairs, and then we completed the third part of the project by doing individual lesson plans. We used the Internet, books and other resources to meet the requirements of the strands.

Impact
This artifact will be used in the future when I am planning math lessons for my students. I will be able to choose and create activities that will fit in the strands and be helpful to the students. I will also be able to evaluate lesson plans that I may want to use to see if they fit with the specific strand I am working on.

Alignment
For this project I was required to locate, evaluate, and select resources and materials that would be useful and appropriate for a math lesson (Tech. Competency 10.6).  By evaluating existing lesson plans in books and on the Internet to create our lesson plans for this project I was using the available technology to facilitate teaching strategies for the specific discipline of math (Tech. Competency 11.4)
This project involved the creating and teaching of many different lesson plans. It also involved reflection and modification to change the lessons to make them better. This shows how a teacher must reflect on and evaluate what he or she has chosen to teach
