This artifact is a newsletter that will be an example of what I can send out to parents, teachers, and other school colleagues to let them know what I am doing in my classroom.

Context:
I created this using Microsoft Word, a word processing program.  As I look to the future I realize that there will be few opportunities to reach parents and colleagues directly.  Through the newsletter, I will be able to share what I am doing and how their child is doing in my classroom.

Impact:
This will be very helpful as a future teacher because it is now part of my portfolio of ideas and I will have access to it.

Alignment:
By developing this newsletter, I will be creating and building relationships with colleagues and parents in the community.  (INTASC #10).  With the diversity growing everyday in the country, it is very likely that I will have a student or a parent who does not speak English.  I will be faced with a problem of communication.  Using the translation option on altavista.com, I can create a newsletter in another language (Tech Comp 6C).  By sending this newsletter home, I have included websites the parents can go with their child and learn more.  These websites include activities, lessons, and search pages.  By including this, students are exposed to the Internet and the use of technology (Tech Comp 3A).
