List of Television Resources Context By going to a search engine on the Internet, I was able to enter a television channel to find the homepage, and find information about the channel. This information was then processed into a list of useful television resources for teachers by using Microsoft Word. Accessing the web sites provided in the footnotes will help teachers find out more about specific programs that will be provided on the given channels. Also, in class we previewed a segment of a Channel One program, which is a television show that schools across the nation are using to educate students about topics that are studied more in depth during class. It introduces new topics as well as reviews previous material that students are exposed to in school. This tool is very beneficial to students who learn best by seeing this presented in a visual manner. Impact As a teacher, I will want to integrate different types of teaching approaches to reach all students. Visual learners will benefit from seeing programs from these educational television channels. Being knowledgeable about what to find on these channels will make it easier to find programs pertaining to the topic being discussed in the classroom. Alignment This
list of television channels meets the NC Standard Course of Study K-12
Technology Competency goal #3, which states
that the learner will use a variety of technologies to access, analyze,
interpret, synthesize, apply and communicate information. By accessing
the web sites provided in the footnotes, students will be able to interpret
information about these educational channels by viewing links related to
education. This assignment also meets INTASC
Principle #2 because he/she is providing learning opportunities for
students who are shown educational information via television.
