As a future teacher, this experience has helped me become more aware of how students view school and learning. I am now able to assess a student’s ability in spelling, reading, comprehension, and math. This will be helpful in planning lessons to that will be appropriate for specific students. I will be able to record data about my students and then reflect on it to ensure that every child is getting the instruction they need. Through the Portrait of a Learner project I collected various types
of data and produced a video of my portrait student. I used a tape
recorder to record the assessments that were given to my student and a
video camera to tape various activities that she participated in throughout
the day. I used of these various technologies effectively and appropriately
to collect information on student learning using a variety of methods (12.2).
