NC ETSI Advanced Competencies

References

During my internship, a classmate and I were required to design a web page
for our Media and Learning class.  This web page includes a media literacy
lesson that was developed for fourth, fifth and sixth grade students, links to
media literacy resources, and a reflection about teaching the lesson.  The
students are asked to write a script to a movie or television clip that I will
play without the sound.  Then the students will stand in front of the class and
          act out their script.

This lesson meets the NC Standard Course of study for language arts and
information skills.  These objectives are listed in the lesson.  This web page
will be available to other teachers with a reflection included that will be
useful for anyone teaching the lesson.

This lesson contains links to media literacy resources that would be
beneficial to teachers when teaching this lesson (10.3).  After viewing a
movie or television clip without the sound, the students will use the body
language and stage to determine the dialogue and emotions portrayed by
the actors (11.1).  By viewing these clips, students can focus on the
importance of the effects that stage and body language have on the dialogue
and, in turn, on the viewer (11.4).  Students will pair up with one another to
discuss the dialogue to the chosen clip (12.5).  Finally, the students will
create the script to the clip and act it out in front of the class (12.7)
