For my Literacy, Technology and Instruction course I was required to evaluate an episode of the educational news broadcast Channel One. This document would be useful to teachers and parents if there were a debate over the issue of viewing this show in their school. By viewing this product, parents and teachers may more easily be able to form their opinions about Channel One. My partners and I were required to capture images from a video, transfer them to a disk and then place them in the text. This document corresponds with the NC Standard Course of Study for language arts and information skills because it requires the students to analyze a video and write about it. I would use this evaluation in a classroom setting as a model for students who would be analyzing the psychology and effects of media in their environment as well as the quality of the information it provides. This evaluation would also benefit parents and teachers who may have questions about offering Channel One in their school. This document is an evaluation of a school television
resource that supports the curriculum (10.2).
As a model, this type of evaluation would facilitate student learning utilizing
satellite/ cable (12.6).
