During my internship I was required to follow a student throughout the semester. This project involved obtaining footage of the student working and interacting with other students. I was also required to keep examples of her work and conduct assessments in reading, spelling and math. The fist step in this process, however, was to send a permission slip home with the child explaining what I would do for this project and receiving permission from the parents to proceed. As a teacher, I will need to send permission slips home for a variety of reasons. This document gives me a standard to go by when I will ask for permission to document all of my students’ work. It also allows me to effectively communicate with the parents of my students. This permission slip ensures compliance with child protection
and student rights (14.1).
