Media Influence Videotape:  an investigation of the effects of media in the everyday lives of students

Context

This video was compiled for my Integrating Media and Technology with Classroom Instruction course during my pre-service training at Appalachian State University.

Impact

This video provides some insight on how media affects students each day.  The video can be available for parents, teachers and other students to view, in order to build awareness of the affects of media on today’s students.

Alignment

In this assignment, children will use video to present some ideas about how media influences their lives on a daily basis, through sight and sound.  This information may be presented to the class to expand understanding of the impact media has on their lives, and will be easily comprehended due to the fact that students will be describing media influences on their own level  (Tech Comp 11.2).  This activity could be performed after a lesson on media to assess what has been learned by the students and represents student reflection on the topic through videotape (Tech Comp 12.2).
