English as a Second Language (ESL) Project:  an in-depth study of ESL students in today's classrooms.

Context

This project was completed for my Elementary School Curriculum and Instruction course during my pre-service training at Appalachian State University.

Impact

This information provides insight into the inclusion of ESL students in the classroom.  It also provides resources, both internet and book, for making the cultural transition easier and more productive.

Alignment

Along with the presentation information, this project provides a resource list for easy reference.  These resources are available for teachers of ESL students and provide translation site recommendations, literature appropriate for a bilingual class, as well as instructional ideas (Tech Comp 13.4).  This resource enhances a teachers’ ability to accommodate different learners by modifying the instruction according to the task of teaching an ESL student (INTASC 4).
