Artifact: North
Carolina Council of Teacher of Mathematics Math Conference (The Program
Booklet): this conference is held once a year for teachers who are interested
in learning new information about math instruction.
Context: I attended this conference on October 5th and 6th 2000, while attending Appalachian State University. Impact: The conference was a great way to further my knowledge about NCCTM and about math in general. The conference was divided into workshops and sessions that were given by teachers in North Carolina. I attended two workshops that were full of new information and resources. The sessions were also full of new and different information that I may not have ever learned about. The conference gave me a chance to meet other teachers and talk to them about ideas and suggestions for my first year of teaching. I will also be able to share information that I learned with future colleagues. Alignment: The NCCTM math conference was a great opportunity to grow professionally. It enabled me to see other teacher’s perspectives on instructional ideas and activities in math. By listening to other teachers present in workshops and in sessions I was able to understand that teachers have to work to keep all subjects fun and exciting. The math conference was a great way to reflective on some of the activities that I was exposed to and to reflect on how I will set up my math program when I am in the classroom. (INTASC 9)
