Artifact # 6 |
Artifact: Three part Classroom Management Project
(Part I Classroom Environment), (Part
II Classroom Routines), (Part
III Classroom Discipline): observations from a first grade classroom
and thoughts on how I will handle classroom management.
Context: This project was composed in my Curriculum and Instruction class at Appalachian State University during the fall of 2000 Impact: This artifact pays close attention to the physical settings in my classroom and how I will be addressing access to materials in my room. In the project I designed a potential classroom layout, thought about routines that I could implement in my classroom, and also thought about discipline. Alignment: Part of this project was to design a layout of my classroom to promote a community of learning. Using a computer, I designed a possible layout of my classroom for a fourth or fifth grade class.(Classroom Layout) I had to think about how the physical setting of my classroom could facilitate active learning and working among my students. This layout portrays how I would arrange a classroom to promote a community of learning. (Tech Comp. 12.4) My classroom layout also shows where I would include my computers in my room. I feel that having the computers out in an open space provides equal access for all the students to use the computers. The computers would not be hid from the students or clutter with classroom materials so that the students would not have access to them. The computers are also set up to make sure that I can see what is going on and who is working on them. (Tech Comp. 14.2) This entire project allowed me to look at my classroom environment and use my understanding of individual and group interactions and to create a learning environment in my classroom. The classroom management project looks at three different parts of classroom management. Classroom Routines, Classroom Discipline and Classroom Environment are all a part of this project. I look at all three and reflect upon observations of other classrooms and my own thought on how I will handle such issues. (INTASK 5)
