Artifact: Health Education Vertical File (examples of information that would be seen inside): a file that contains pamphlets, information sheets, and resources about health issues.

Context: This file was composed during the spring semester of 2000 during my Health Education in the Elementary School class at Appalachian State University.

Impact: This file would be available in the classroom as a resource for students, parents, teachers and other faculty. It contains many different health topics that would concern students in the 4-6 grades, and their parents.  Students would have access to the file when they wanted to learn more information about health topics. It would also serve as a resource for teachers to use when trying to introduce a health lesson into the classroom.

Alignment: Locating information about health resources and topics to have in your classroom is essential for your students in grades 4-6. Putting together a file of information about health subjects took some research and locating of information. I had to find many different resources that would provide me with pamphlets of health information. In the processes of finding all the materials to use, I found places that I could continue to go to for additional resources for the classroom. Such places as a dentist office, a drug store, and health clinics. Before placing items in the vertical file, I had to evaluate them and make sure that they would be appropriate material for 4-6 graders to view. (Tech Comp. 10.6)
