Name: Modern Fashion and Invention: a web-based instructional activity that uses the imagination while inventing a new product from a common, random object selected while enhancing writing and advanced technological skills.
Context: I created the Modern Fashion and Invention project in my CI 3750 class at Appalachian State University as a learning experience that can be taken into the classroom and provide students with examples of creative inventing and practice with technological experience.
Impact This artifact can be used in the classroom when improving web-making and writing skills. This artifact enhances writing skills and creativity in the classroom by requiring certain writing skills in order to "sell" the product and carry the message across to others. The project connects to the 5th grade North Carolina Standard Course of Study because of competency goals 2.3 and 2.4 in the Computer/technology Skills Curriculum.
Alignment: This artifact was designed as a learning opportunity that applies technology-enhanced instructional strategies that supports the diverse needs of learners (Tech Comp IIA). The Modern Fashion and Invention artifact involves technology experience that concentrates on technology standards by requiring technical aspects such as access digital camera use and web page creation (Tech Comp IIIA). The project also applies technology in order to develop students' higher order skills and creativity (Tech Comp IIIC). Modern Fashion and Invention is also a way to communicate with peers, parents, and the larger community in order to nurture student learning (Tech Comp VD). The project demonstrates my understanding in how children learn and develop because it provides a learning opportunity that supports their intellectual, social, and personal development (INTASC 2). It also provides support for expression in writing and other media (INTASC 6).
