Name: Boston Adventure Web Quest: a web quest designed to introduce students to the city of Boston as they take a cyberspace journey through the different tasks that they complete them to learn about the city itself and other aspects of the web quest as well.
Context: I created the Web Quest as a group presentation in my CI 3850 class for students to use as a resource for learning and improving their technological skills while studying various academic disciplines of the curriculum.
Impact: The web quest can be used in the classroom as a direct resource for learning. Students can use the web quest and the resources that it provides as a tool for enrichment in learning in 4 academic disciplines: history, science, art, and language arts.
Alignment: The Boston Adventure Web Quest uses technology in order to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students (Tech Comp IIIB). The web quest is also a way to manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment (Tech Comp IIID). Assessing student learning through technology can be completed using the web quest (Tech Comp IVA). By researching the answers to the given questions in the web quest, students are given the opportunity to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings in order to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning (Tech Comp IVB). The Web Quest is a way to promote safe and healthy use of technology resources (Tech Comp VID). The web quest allows students to explore disciplines of the curriculum while learning from a technological source. It demonstrates how I understand the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the disciplines that I teach and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for students (INTASC 1). This web quest demonstrates how I plan instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, students, the community, and curriculum goals (INTASC 7).
