Name: Literature Circle Unit- Endangered Species: a full unit on literature about endangered species on the fourth grade level and lower levels as well.
Context: This literature circle unit plan was created in my RE 3142 class and provides tasks for students of all reading levels to complete while studying various endangered species.
Impact: The unit can be used in the classroom for reading and language arts as students practice their skills in analyzing literature while completing the given tasks.
Alignment: This artifact accommodates students' diverse needs of learners by providing appropriate  work for all reading levels while requiring various skills and learning capabilities (Tech Comp IIA and INTASC 1). The Literature Circle Unit applies multiple methods of evaluation in order to determine students' appropriate use of technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity (Tech Comp IVC). The unit demonstrates my understanding of how students differ in their approaches to learning, and it shows how I created instructional opportunities that are adaptable to diverse learners (INTASC 3). The unit shows my understanding and uses of a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students' development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills (INTASC 4). The Literature Circles Unit also demonstrates my understanding and uses of formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the students (INTASC 8).
