Artifact 10:  Computer Sign-in Sheet

Context:
As a requirement for my FDN 3100 class in Spring of 2001 at Appalachian State
University, I constructed this artifact.  Using Microsoft Word, I created a table to serve as a sign up sheet for students.  I inserted a table, adjusted the column and row width, added headings, and included a title.

Impact:
As a teacher, it is important that I monitor each student’s use of the technology in the classroom.  I need to make sure everyone gets a fair turn and no one monopolizes the resources.  It is important for me to make sure that each of my students learn how to use a computer, so they will feel comfortable using computers in their lives.  Using a sign-in sheet will allow me to keep up with the amount of times each child goes to the computer and the amount of time he or she spends there.  That way, I will be able to monitor each child’s use.

Alignment:
This artifact aligns with standard IID.  The sign-in sheet is a way to manage the technology resources in my classroom.  I can manage how much time students spend with things and how often they use the resources.  Also aligned with this artifact is technology standard VIE.  Equal access for students to use resources is extremely important.  Using this I can be sure that each child is given equal opportunity to use the resources they need.
