Artifact 11:  Listserv (Works4Me)

Context:
I subscribed to a listserv entitled “Works4Me” which sends out weekly newsletters on
topics important to teachers and is sponsored by the NEA.  The newsletter is written by
teachers and is a compilation of lesson ideas, stories, book recommendations, and
questions that teachers feel are helpful or important.  I subscribed by accessing my email
account using www.hotmail.com and composing a message to lyris@list.nea.org for
Works4Me.  I receive helpful hints and stories each week.

Impact:
Upon graduation I will be licensed to teach Kindergarten through sixth grade.  The
resources that I get from this listserv will be very helpful to me.  I can access lesson plans,
resources, and helpful hints from my colleagues.  I can search for help with specific
subjects and I will receive a weekly email from other teachers with beneficial
information.

Alignment:
This listserv aligns with technology standard VA.  I will use the weekly emails that I receive in my classroom to enrich my class as well as broaden my own knowledge.  It will help me with my professional development along with teach me knew and interesting things.
