Artifact 13:  Newsletter

Context:
Artifact 2 is a newsletter that was created as part of my FDN 3100 class at Appalachian State University.  It was created on Desktop Publishing.  It is a two-page newsletter welcoming our hypothetical class and includes what we will be doing in our classroom during the next month in second grade.  We imported a photograph of ourselves using a digital camera and included it in our newsletter.  We also added clip art to make it more appealing to children.

Impact:
I will be licensed to teach K-6, but the newsletter we created is targeted towards second grade.  I will use this type of newsletter in my classroom to communicate with my students' parents on a monthly basis, so the parents will know what their children are learning in my classroom.  In this particular newsletter we included the rules for the classroom, a materials list, our curriculum, upcoming events, opportunities to volunteer, websites for kids, a photo of the teachers, and a brief autobiography of each teacher.

Alignment:
This newsletter aligns with INTASC 10.  The goal of this newsletter is to communicate with parents and children of my classroom.  It helps foster a working relationship between myself and the parents, as well as the students.
