Artifact 7: Websites for ESL Students

Context:
During my Block experience at Appalachian State University, I did a search for websites that would help me meet the needs of students whose primary language is something other than English.  I started my search by entering "sites for ESL students" on the page www.google.com.  I explored several of the sites and decided that two of the best are www.englishlearner.com and www.spanishyahoo.com

Impact:
After receiving my degree, I will enter a classroom of my own.  The odds are high that I will have students in my class whose primary language is not English.  These sites will help me communicate with the students and their parents in their own language.  It will not only help me, but the child can do work in his or her own language and I can transfer it to English.  These sites will be very handy for, not only myself, but also the other children in my class for communication.

Alignment:
By exploring these websites and finding resources that will be helpful to me and the learners in my classroom, I have met technology standard VIB.  Students in my classroom can use these sites to help them with their classwork as well as use them in their free time.
