Artifact 12:  Reflection Net Nanny software

Context:
I accessed Netscape Communicator and went to the web page www.netnanny.com.  I explored the site by clicking on different links within the page.  I searched to find the ethical practices and safety precautions that parents, teachers, and students must know.  Then I used Microsoft Word to create a reflection of the software.

Impact:
This software is very helpful to me as a teacher.  It gives me information on the safety precautions I should take in my classroom and with my students.  It is also helpful for the parents of my students to know how to block certain sites on the internet from their children.  I will have to be very alert of technological safety in my class as well as know how to establish a healthy use of the internet and other resources with my students.  As a teacher, this software would help me control browsing on the internet so my students would not reach any sites filled with filth.

Alignment:
This artifact aligns with standard VIA and VID because the site teaches me about safety measures I can take for my students as well as the legal and ethical rights that I must follow as a teacher.
