Artifact 14:  Check-off Assignment Sheet

Context:

The check-off assignment sheet was created by using the Microsoft Works spreadsheet program.  It was created for  use in my internship with a cooperating school during my Block experience at ASU.

Impact:

During my full-time internship, I used the check-off sheet to be able to record when my students turned in what assignments.  This specific one was used for weekly Spelling assignments.  It is essential for teachers to be able to keep up with the large amount of student work that it turned in daily, weekly, or monthly.  By having this check-off sheet, I was able to quickly know whether or not each student turned in their work.

Alignment:

This check-off sheet made it a lot easier for me to assess students.  When we had weekly spelling tests, I was able to distinguish a direct relationship between students who did not do their spelling assignments and those who did not do well on their spelling tests.  It helps students to be able to become aware of their personal needs and to encourage them to set personal goals for learning (INTASC Standard 8).  This was a valuable tool to use to explain to parents why their child was not doing well in spelling.  This is just one way to be able to assess students' progress throughout the semester (Tech. Comp. IV. A).
