Artifact # 5 |
Context: When thinking about my future classroom, I decided one thing that is continually useful for teachers to have and to use is a map showing where the classroom computers are located. I created a map showing where I would place my computers in my own classroom. Impact: It is important for teachers to consider where they place their computers because a great deal of the students’ time and effort will include computer skills and technology. In a world where technology is growing more rapidly than we ever thought possible, students need a place to use the computer that will be closed off enough to provide personal space, but close enough to readily accessible. Alignment: Having a map of where your classroom computers are located is essential
to being able to manage technology resources. (Tech. Comp. IID).
The computers are in a place where the teacher is able to continually check
to see that students are remaining on task. It is also important
that the computers be accessible for short and quick assignments.
Often students will need to type something quickly for a project or check
the validity of a claim on a specific Internet site. Students should
be able to do this without disrupting the whole classroom environment.
This is what the map of the classroom computers ensures (INTASC Standard
5).
