List of Television Resources

Context:
Using the internet, I found many television resources that can be used in the classroom.  I have included five of which I found to be very useful.  These sites described many television resources from the Discovery Channel to Channel 1 for kids.  I viewed a Channel 1 for kids segment in class.  This program is very useful because they are made for kids, by kids. These television programs are very educational and will encourage a student to want to learn more. They are interactive, full of games, activities, and lessons.  I used the curriculum guide from the website www.dpi.state.nc.us to find the Competency Goal 3 from the NC Standard Course of Study K-12 Technology Competency that states, “The learner will use a variety of technologies to access, to analyze, interpret, synthesize, apply, and communicate information”.  I listed these sources and their information on a Microsoft Word document.

Impact:
As a teacher, I will want to use television resources in my classroom. Media is a huge part of a society and needs to be taken advantage of and used for education.  These television resources can help students learn anything from science to history.

Alignment:
After researching educational programming, I now have resources to go to when I am in the classroom.  I have completed Technology Competency 10.2 by using television resources to support curriculum in the classroom.  This will enhance my teaching abilities by helping my students learn more effectively.
