Inquiry Project

Context:
As a group, we collected information on Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) students. We presented this information to the class by beginning with short skits to introduce the topic. We then discussed myths with the class, discussing truths and other facts about AIG students, including testing problems, etc. We created a handout that summarized all that we discussed.

Impact:
As a teacher, I will have to be knowledgeable of the special aspects that each child will carry in my classroom. I will need to be flexible in my class, helping every child meet each of their needs to the best of my ability.

Alignment:
The following Technology Competencies were met as a result of this project. I accessed resources for planning instruction via telecommunications as I informed my class on the facts of AIG students (10.3). I used computers effectively to communicate information to my classmates (12.3). I selected and created learning experiences that corresponded with AIG students learning capabilities using a variety of communication tools (12.7). I also used media to address differences in children's learning and performance, noting students with special needs (13.2).

The INTASC Principle met was due to effectively evaluating the effects of my choices and actions on others including students, parents, and other community members who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally through learning about various learning capacities in the classroom (Prinicple 9).
