Computer Technology Skills Curriculum and Document on the 8th grade Computer Skills Test

Context:
This artifact is a link to the Computer/Technology Skills Curriculum for Elementary grade levels.  It can be found from the website www.dpi.state.nc.us I clicked on curriculum and then printed out the competencies
The artifact also comes from a document on the 8th Grade Computer Technology Skills. It can also be found on the website www.ncpublicschools.org

Impact:
I am going to be licensed to teach grades K-6 in North Carolina and will incorporate these computer skills into my classroom. I am aware that there are six strands in computer skills for all public school students in NC:
SI-Societal Issues
KU/WP/DTP-Keyboard Utilization/Word Processing/Desk Top Publishing
DB-Database
SS-Spreadsheet
T-Telecommunications
M/P-Multimedia/Presentation

Alignment:
The link to  the NC Technology Competencis aligns with  Technology Competency 10.1.  As a future NC public school teacher, I now know and will incorporate these technology skills into my lesson plans.

The link to  the 8th grade testing aligns with Competency 10.5.  We have discussed computer skills assessment in the 8th grade in class and concluded that students will be assessed by multiple-choice and performance questions.  This is a required test for graduation
