Artifact
Three: Lesson Plans For Teachers
Competency 13.4: “Use appropriate local, state, and national services or resources to meet diverse learning needs through technology.” Context: The first artifact is a printout of a lesson plan. I got this artifact from www.lessonplanspage.com. This artifact is a Social Studies lesson and the name of it is, “Eat Your State”. It is a lesson plan that helps students create a land resource map. This lesson plan is suitable for grades 2-4. The second artifact is a printout of a lesson plan. I got this artifact from http://ericir.syr.edu. This artifact is a mathematics lesson and the name of it is, “Snake”. The goal of this lesson plan is to increase proficiency in basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. This lesson is suitable for grades 3-8. “ERIC is a nationwide system of Clearinghouses and support agencies designed to help educators, librarians, and the general public keep up to date on educational-related issues.” The third artifact is a printout of a lesson plan. I got this artifact from www.ofcn.org. This artifact is a science lesson and the name of it is, “Water Pollution”. The goal of this lesson plan is to help children identify two or more pollutants in a bog, marsh, stream or other wetland area. This lesson is suitable for grades K-6. Impact: I am going to be licensed to teach grades K-6 and I will incorporate these lesson plans into my classroom. I am now aware that anyone can find any type of lesson plan that you need by looking on the Internet (Internet Explorer). There are lesson plans for every grade and every subject on the Internet. Alignment: I have met Competency 13.4 because I have used the technology of the Internet to find lesson plans that I may one day use in my classroom. The ERIC website is a nationwide system to help educators like myself keep updated on educational issues. Now that I know that there are many lesson plans on the Internet, I will be able to help my students learn in a variety of ways that other people have already tried and successfully educated their students. This artifact also
aligns with INTASC Principle #6:
The teacher uses knowledge of effective verbal, nonverbal, and media communication
techniques to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction
in the classroom. Now that I am aware of the many different websites
that are on the internet that have lesson plans, I now have a way of using
all different techniques of communication with my students. This artifact
also meets INTASC Standard #7 because
the teacher plans instruction based upon knowledge of the subject matter,
the students, the community, and curriculum goals. It gives people
the information they need to communicate and learn about what is being
studied and learned within the classroom.
