Context:  This WebQuest project was completed at Appalacian State University during the summer of 2002. It was created in CI 3850, which is Literacy, Technology, and Instruction.  It was completed on Microsoft Word.

Impact:  This WebQuest is intended for 2nd grade. By creating this WebQuest, we hoped to create an activity that students will enjoy as well as learn from. Several of the NC Standard Course of Study competency goals apply to this activity. Specifically, goals 2.01, 2.02, 2.07, 3.03, goal 4, 5.0, and 5.05. With this activity, teachers can achieve many goals and use technology at the same time to teach students how to use it.

Alignment:  As well as the standard course of study curriculum goals, several of the technology competencies apply to the activity as well. Standard IA applies because teachers can apply technology in the classroom using this computer project. II A applies because there are extra links at the bottom of the WebQuest for a student who wishes to further explore but it is not required. IIIC applies because students are required to click on links to do research for this activity. IVC applies because students will be evaluated on the activity using the rubric posted on the WebQuest. This projects meets INTASC principal 1 because it shows how a learning experience can be created  to make material meaningful to students.
