Inquiry project
During my senior year block at ASU I created a presentation on special needs.  In this project we talked about the different special needs that are found in the classroom.  The special needs that were focused on were ADD/ADHD, gifted students, diabetes, and epilepsy.  In this presentation we talked about what each of these special needs were and how to handle them in your classroom.  For this presentation we did research using the ERIC search in our University Library.  After we had gathered the information, we created a power point presentation, brochures, and questions for a debate.  In this presentation we also read children’s books related to special needs and watched a video clip on a Down syndrome boy.
This presentation would be good to use for a faculty meeting in the schools.  It talks about how to deal with situations that may arise in the classroom.  Through this research done for this presentation I learned how to handle a seizure if a student was to have one.
The research done for this presentation was gathered form the Internet and the ERIC search located in the library.  Using the ERIC search fulfils competency 13.4 in the presentation there was a debate on having special needs student in the classroom. In our presentation we talked about the adjustments that would need to be made if there were special needs students in our class.  These adjustments would fulfils competency 13.2
