Rationale for Software Evaluation

As an intern at Mabel Elementary school I was required to do a software evaluation.  To complete this assignment I had to evaluate math software and create a lesson to do with a student in my class.

I used a program call MTM1 - MoneyBoard and created a lesson to do with this student.  Together we used the program to play with money.  This program allowed him to better understand how to create different amounts of money using dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, and it helped him to become more confident with his computer skills.  He used the mouse  to follow the directions given to him by a voice on the computer.

This lesson gave this student experience in making change (11.1) and used a software program to help him learn (11.2).  The software program helped to facilitate to him during the lesson (11.4) and used used technology to aid in skill reinforcement (13.2).  Because I used a computer program that was specific to the discipline I was teaching I met competency goal 11.3.
