Rationale for Permission Slip
I chose a student from my fourth grade class to study in my Portrait of a Learner project.  This was assigned as part of my internship for my Block at Appalachian State University.  While assessing my student I needed to record and videotape some of our conversations.  Before I began assessing my student I needed to make sure his parents knew what I was doing, so I sent home a permission slip.  This permission slip made his parents aware of what we were doing in the classroom, and it gave me permission to record and videotape our conversations.

In my classroom I will be sure to have a permission slip on file to have the parents sign at the beginning of the year.  This will help the parents to become more aware of how their child’s work will be handled in my classroom.  I will also sit down with my students and explain what the permission slip means and how it effects them as students.  This will help me to keep in close communication with the parents of my students.

This permission slip corresponds with the competency goal 14.1 because it is designed to inform parents about he activities taking place in our classroom.
