NC ETSI Advanced Competencies

I used a computer lesson plan during my internship at Appalachian State University regarding the various parts of a computer.  The lesson plan was used to give students information about the functions of a computer and how to publish their work.  The artifact can be used in a first grade classroom.
This lesson plan can be used by other teachers or parents to instruct students on computer parts.  Thes lesson provides hands-on activities for students to manipulate the computer and learn how to give a computer commands.  The lesson plan corresponds with the NC Standard Course of Study (Link to NCDI).
This artifact meets (10.1), because in first grade, students should know how to (link to information on ncdpi).    This lesson plan meets the goals of the computer skills of first grade, because students learn to identify physical parts of the computer.  The student learns the names of computer parts, and publish their work (10.4).  Students saved their work to a disk for later retrieval and I assessed their knowledge of how to save documents to a disk by having the students save their work to a disk, and then retrieve the information from the disk.  (10.5).
