I created a classroom setup during my internship at Appalachian State University. I arranged the room to promote active student learning and participation. The setup allowed me to think how to set up my room to accomodate all students. The artifact can be used to show parents and faculty how I plan to utilize my classroom to provide maximum benefits for all of my students.
The classroom provides areas for students to work independently or cooperatively in a group. The classroom contains a library that is accessible to all students. The library contains books of a variety of genres and different levels of reading. There is a rug for students to sit on while they read. There is a specific area for computer usage in the classroom. The placement of the centers, computer, and library ensure that students will be able to utilize these resources.
The classroom setup promotes active student involvement and collaboration,
which meets competency goal (12.4). The
computer is accessible to all students (14.2).
