Artifact #1:
Computer/Technology Skills Curriculum and Document on Computer Skills Test

Context:

This list of computer and technology skills came from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction website.  The address for this site is: www.ncdpi.org.  From this home page, I followed the links to “Curriculum”, “Computer/Technology Skills”, and finally for the grades “K-6”.  Included also, is a brochure from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Impact:

I am going to be licensed to teach grades Kindergarten through Sixth grade in North Carolina and I will incorporate these computer skills into my classroom.  There are six strands mentioned in the list of computer and technology skills for all public school students in North Carolina.  They are:  Societal Issues, Keyboard Utilization/Word Processing/Desk Top Publishing, Database, Spreadsheet, Telecommunications, and Multimedia/Presentation.

Alignment:

The printout of the North Carolina Computer Skills aligns with Competency 10.1 and Competency 10.5.  This artifact shows what students should be able to accomplish throughout the year.  Also included is assessment for coputer skills for appropriate grade levels and subjects.  As a future teacher in the state of North Carolina, I now know of these skill competencies and will incorporate them into my classroom.
