Desktop Publishing Newsletter to Parents

Context:

This newsletter was produced using Microsoft Publisher.  It is intended for parents of my kindergarten class and would be sent to my student’s parents or legal guardians a week prior to the beginning of school.  The newsletter is to inform students of who I am, my classroom guidelines, upcoming events and ways to volunteer.

Impact:

I will be licensed to teach grades kindergarten through sixth grade.  I will be able to reproduce a bi-monthly newsletter to be sent home to the students’ parents and legal guardians.  I will include such things as awards that have been distributed, upcoming events and special days, opportunities for parents to volunteer, and other points of interest as they arise.

Alignment:

The newsletter aligns with Competency 12.3.  It uses computers and other technologies effectively to communicate to colleagues, parents, and others.  This artifact also meets INTASC Standard 10 because it fosters communication with the community and supports student's learning and well being.  As a future teacher in the state of North Carolina, I now know how to generate a newsletter and look forward to producing them for my classroom.
