Artifact #15
Grade Book Spreadsheet with Two Charts

Context:

This artifact consists of a grade book for a kindergarten class.  There are five students and they are awarded up to five stars for each subject area.  Also included are two charts (one of a student’s grades for each subject compared to the class average, and another of each student’s grade in math.)  Printouts of the spreadsheet with and without formulas are also included.  This artifact was produced using Microsoft Excel (making the spreadsheet and using “F11” to build the charts), and Microsoft Word to produce the letter.

Impact:

As a future teacher in the state of North Carolina, I am capable of building a spreadsheet to keep track of grades and incorporate this information into letters to other faculty and parents.  I will be able to modify the spreadsheet for weighted averages, a point system, and other various grading scales.

Alignment:

This artifact aligns with Competency 11.3, Competency 12.2 and Competency 12.5.  This gradesheet uses technology-based tools that are discipline specific, and allows a teacher to organize and manage student involvement and collaboration.  With this knowledge, I know that I will be organized in my career and can produce professional quality work with regards of my student’s grades.
