Artifact #7
Ethics Role Playing Activity

Context:

The first part of this artifact is a template off the Internet that may be modified for an "Acceptable Use Policies".  It can be located at http://www.connectedteacher.com/tips/aup.asp
The second part of this artifact is a copy of the "Policy on Acceptable Use of Computers" from Valle Crucis Elementary School.  The third part is "Netiquette (Internet Etiquette)".  This is a list of etiquette to keep in mind when sending electronic mail (e-mail).  The fourth part is "Proper Netiquette Can Go A Long Way".  Included in this are rules and other etiquette to keep in mind while sending e-mail.  The fifth part of this artifact is two scenarios that were acted out in class by my classmates and me.

Impact:

As a future educator in the state of North Carolina, I will be able to use the parts of this artifact to share with my class the etiquette of e-mail and acceptable uses for the computer.  Also I will be able to produce my own version of a copy of "Acceptable Use Policies" for my classroom computers or even for the school.

Alignment:

This artifact aligns with Competency 14.3.  It provides issues of social, legal, and ethical background that is related to technology use.  Upon my certification, I plan on using the "Acceptable Use Policies" and etiquette hand-outs in my classroom.
