Artifact #12
Powerpoint Presentation

Context:

This artifact consists of a PowerPoint presentation made using Microsoft PowerPoint.  This presentation was put together by two of my classmates and I.  We brainstormed ideas, came up with a topic and developed the outline for the presentation.  The software we used, Microsoft PowerPoint, allowed us to put together slides for a show.  These slides were made of the same background, sound clips, photo clips, digital camera photos, and animation.  The printout is in handout form with six slides per page.  We presented this PowerPoint presentation to our classmates using the Computer Teacher Station that sends the information through the LCD Projector to the wall, and we had use of the speakers.  We also had experience with the wireless touch screen, which allowed us to switch from movie to the computer desktop to set-up the presentation.  The advantage of the wireless touch screen is that the teacher can move around the classroom to monitor the students and still progress in the presentation.

Impact:

As a future teacher in the state of North Carolina, I now feel competent in using Microsoft PowerPoint.  I am now able to make a slide show for my classroom and present it to my students.  Also, I will be able to teach my students how to use this program to make a presentation of their own.

Alignment:

This artifact aligns with Competency 11.2, Competency11.4 and Competency 12.6.  This PowerPoint uses technology to present information to others, facilitates teaching strategies to specific disciplines, and uses wireless technology in the presentation.  This artifact also meets the INTASC Standard 2 by my understanding of how children learn and develop, and also by meeting the needs of different levels of children in technology and language arts.  By doing this PowerPoint presentation, I am capable to utilizing wireless technology, presenters, and using a variety of technologies in presenting information.
