Websites for Students
Whose Primary Language is Not English
Context:
In class, I used Internet Explorer to search the website www.freetranslation.com.
With this site, I used the text translator to translate a few sentences
to Spanish. This printout is included. Next, I used the website
translator to translate a website that I will use frequently in my classroom,
www.abcteach.com. A printout of this site in Spanish is also included.
Finally, I visited www.englishlearner.com to find activities, etc that
will help students that do not use English as their primary language
to learn it more efficiently. An example of this is included.
Impact:
In North Carolina, there are over 44,000 students who understand little
or no English. I expect to have students in my classroom who do speak
English as a primary language and hope that with these websites, I can
better create a learning environment for them. These sites will help
me understand what they are saying, help them understand what I am saying,
parents, etc. The websites will also help me to create good activities
for students who are learning English as a second language.
Alignment:
I have completed Technology Competency
13.3 by searching websites and getting familiar with the many ways that
I can make learning more essential for students that do not use English
as a primary language. I have searched these bilingual websites and
will use them in my future classroom. |
