Inquiry Project

 Context

The Inquiry Project was assigned in my CI 4000 class in the Fall of 2002.  This project was designed to help us learn about certain aspects of school life that we may not otherwise learn about in our classes.  My group chose to research Title One, a federally funded program for impoverished schools.  My group presented our findings in the form of a website/webquest.  We used our presentation time to teach about Title One as well as how to navigate through a website.

Impact

Our project was created using Netscape Composer, a very simple program used to create websites.  We also got our information by searching on the web and interviewing different people in our schools.  We also took pictures using a digital camera to add visuals to the presentation so that people could see what items our schools had purchased using Title One money.

Alignment

This project corresponds with VI B because it shows how I can use technology in my classroom to help kids with a variety of subjects.  This webpage could help kids who are in Title One reading program learn more about the program that they are actually involved in.  This web-page also aligns with VI-C because it shows how I can use technology to support diversity because by doing this project I learned all about Title One, a federal program for low income students.  I am also teaching others about Title One when they navigate through my web-page.   This project also meets INTASC principle #9 because it shows that I can communicate my knowledge of communication techniques through interaction.
