Social Studies Lesson

Context

I created a lesson plan in my Teaching of Social Studies class during the Fall of 2002.  This lesson deals with different cultures that exist in the United States.  Students create collages using pictures and the internet of different cultures such as Native American, Irish, Italian, etc.  This is an activity mainly aimed at fifth grade and corresponds with the North Carolina Social Studies Curriculum.

Impact

This activity was formed on microsoft word.  I also used the internet to help me with ideas when writing the lesson. This activity involves art, social studies, and language arts.  Along with the collage there are also writing activities that involve critical thinking.

Alignment

This project meets INTASCPrinciple 7 because it shows that I understand how to plan instruction based upon different aspects.  My subject matter for this lesson was social studies and diversity in the United States.  My curriculum goals are shown in the lesson.
