Software Review
 

 Context

During the fall of 2002, our class conducted educational software evaluations.  I chose to evaluate Reader Rabbit for the second grade.  This evaluation was very helpful because it helped me to learn about educational software and what kinds I would prefer to use as a classroom teacher. 

Impact
Participating in this software review helped me learn how to evaluate a certain software before I decide to incorporate  it into my curriculum. Some of the different parts of this evaluation were to provide a content description, to list strengths and weaknesses of the software, and also to suggest areas where the software could be used in the curriculum. My review will also provide helpful information for teachers who are interested in using this software. 

Alignment

This artifact aligns with competency II-B because it shows that I can use recent technology in my classroom.  While doing this project I researched several different educational softwares and learned what kind of software that I would like to use in my own class.  I think that this is important because I want my students to use fun, yet relevant educational software often in my classroom.  My software evaluation also corresponds with competency V-B because it shows that I can reflect upon what type of technology I want my class to use because I talked about what I liked about certain software and what I did not like about others.  Also, this evaluation shows that I can find other software evaluations on-line so if I ever want to use a certain software in my class I can find a review on-line about it prior to my teaching with it easily.
