Database of Software
Evaluation
Context: This artifact includes a copy of my database that has been sorted by alphabetical order and a copy of my database after applying a filter in the rating column of four or better. As a class we rotated around the room in small groups and evaluated six pieces of educational software for possible classroom use. After recording our evaluations on paper by title, publisher, age level, description, objective, strengths, weaknesses, rating from one to five, and recommendation we entered this data into a database. Impact: As a future teacher I realize that good, reliable, and innovative software will be useful in the classroom. I plan to use what I have learned about certain software. I also plan to use database spreadsheets, as it will be a helpful tool in many aspects. Alignment: I have met competency 10.6 by evaluating a number of educational software. I have met competency 12.1 by learning how to create database spreadsheets for information that could be used by students in the classroom setting. This media could be very useful in communicating results clearly to students. I have also met competency 13.1 by becoming familiar and competent with new media and technology that will be useful in addressing differences in children’s learning and performance skills. This artifact also meets INTASC principle 3 and 13.
