Artifact 8:  Copyright Policy Discussion and Handouts

Competency 14.1:  “Establish classroom policies and procedures that ensure compliance with copyright law, fair-use guidelines, security, and child protection.”

Context

I saw a PowerPoint presentation on copyright laws and as a class we discussed ways not to break the laws and as a class we discussed fair use policy. I have included a copy of this PowerPoint presentation.  Another handout that is included is Copyright in an Electronic Environment, telling what you can and cannot use on your PowerPoint presentation and on web pages.  Citing Electronic References is a website that tells you hot to cite web pages and other electronic sources.

Impact

As a future teacher it is my responsibility to make sure my students do not break copyright laws.  It is also my responsibility to know how to site electronic sources.

Alignment

I have seen a PowerPoint presentation with examples of proper ways to cite electronic resources and as a class we have discussed violation of copyright laws.  I now understand copyright laws and know how to keep my students from breaking it, therefore I have met competency 14.1.
